Regular Season Round 7: Widzew - Riviera Gdynia 63-62

Widzew can celebrate finally their first win this season after six consecutive loses. They used home court advantage to defeat Riviera Gdynia (1-6) 63-62. The hosts were ahead by 6 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 14-12 run, which allowed them to win the game. Strangely Riviera Gdynia outrebounded Widzew 36-23 including 21 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Alicja Bednarek (170-83) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and 4 assists. International guard Olivia Tomialowicz (185-90) contributed with 14 points for the winners. American center Danielle Wilson (190-88, college: Dowling, agency: Merit Management Group) answered with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds and guard Anna Jakubiuk (180-94) added 12 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Riviera Gdynia. Four Riviera Gdynia players scored in double figures. Widzew left bottom position moving up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Riviera Gdynia. It was Riviera Gdynia's third loss in a row. Widzew will play against bottom-ranked MKS Konin (#10) on the road in the next round. Riviera Gdynia will play against AZS Gorzow Wielkopolski and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
