Extraliga top team - Nitra (6-1) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat sixth ranked Prievidza (3-4) 84-72. The guests trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 48-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Nitra shot 63.0 percent from the field. Nitra had a 28-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a quality performance of Croatian guard Sven Smajlagic (190-90) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Patrick Sparks (184-83, college: Kentucky, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) who added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. American forward Darris Santee (203-87, college: UNLV) responded with 13 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Corey Jefferson (181-85, college: Texas St.) scored 18 points. Five Nitra and four Prievidza players scored in double figures. Prievidza's coach Krunoslav Krajnovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Nitra maintains first position with 6-1 record. Prievidza at the other side keeps the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with B.Bystrica. Nitra are looking forward to face Iskra Svit (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Prievidza will play against Handlova and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
