Regular Season Round 5: P.Mantovana - Matera 72-96

Date: October 30, 2013
Everything could happen in Mirandola at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Matera and 9th ranked P.Mantovana had identical 2-2 record. But P.Mantovana was not able to use a home court advantage and was rolled over by the opponent from Matera 96-72 on Wednesday night. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 52-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Anthony Jones (191-84, college: Indiana Tech) who scored 34 points (!!!) (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). His fellow American import forward Kyle Austin (203-88, college: Cal-Riverside) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). American-Puerto Rican Ramon Clemente (200-85, college: Wichita St.) produced 20 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and forward Alex Ranuzzi (195-86, agency: Interperformances) added 20 points respectively for the hosts. Matera (3-2) moved-up to second place, which they share with 7 other teams. Loser P.Mantovana dropped to the tenth position with three games lost. Matera will face Lucca (#14) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. P.Mantovana will play against Treviglio (#6) and hope to win that game.
