Regular Season Round 4: Haukar - Snaefell 82-77

Date: October 31, 2013
There was no surprise in Hafnarfjordur where 8th ranked Snaefell (1-3) was defeated by sixth ranked Haukar (3-1) 82-77. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Snaefell won third quarter 24-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haukar players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. They brought some defensive toughness making 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Terrence Watson (200-87, college: Ball St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 31 points and 13 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). Guard Emil Barja (192-91) contributed with a triple-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. International forward Jon Olafur Jonsson (199-81) replied with 25 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Vance Cooksey (183-87, college: Pikeville) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Snaefell. Four Snaefell players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Haukar moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Grindavik. Snaefell at the other side keeps the eighth position with three games lost. They share it with IR. Haukar will play against Stjarnan (#7) on the road in the next round. Snaefell will play against Grindavik to get more than just one victory in their record.
