Regular Season Round 4: Valur - Keflavik 76-94

Undefeated leader Keflavik delivered the fourth consecutive win on Thursday night. This time they beat bottom-ranked Valur (0-4) 94-76 in Reykjavik. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 11-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 94-76. Keflavik dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Valur's 28. Keflavik forced 19 Valur turnovers and outrebounded them 39-27 including 26 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Michael Craion (195-89, college: ORU) fired a double-double by scoring 21 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. The former international guard Arnar Jonsson (178-89) chipped in 19 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. point guard Ragnar Gylfason (180-85) produced 20 points and American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Valur players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Keflavik have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 4-0 record. Newly promoted Valur still closes the standings with four games lost. Keflavik are looking forward to face Thor Thorl (#3) in Thorlakshofn in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Valur's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Reykjavik to the arena IR.
