Regular Season Round 1: Ottawa - Western 104-76

Date: November 1, 2013
Gee-Gees used a home court advantage and outscored the opponent from London, ON 104-76 on Friday night. The game without a history. Gee-Gees led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Gee-Gees forced 24 Mustangs turnovers. Mustangs were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for point guard Michael L'Africain (185) who helped to win the game recording 19 points. Guard Johnny Berhanemeskel (185) contributed with 21 points for the winners. Four Gee-Gees players scored in double figures. Forward Peter Scholtes (196) answered with 8 points and 7 rebounds and forward Greg Morrow (190) added 13 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Mustangs. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Gee-Gees will face Lancers (#8) in Windsor, ON in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mustangs will play on the road against Ravens (#1) in Ottawa, ON and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
