Regular Season Round 5: Marin - Cambados 66-65

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Cambados (2-2) was edged on the road by seventh ranked Marin (3-2) 66-65 on Saturday. Cambados trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 24-13 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 65-66 at the end of the game. Marin had a 31-14 advantage in offensive rebounds. Forward Jose Fernandez (202-75) saved the victory by scoring 13 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Alexandre Rapier (200-89, college: Stony Brook, agency: Dynamics Global Management) contributed with 16 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Argentinian guard Juan Martin Orellano (190-89) answered with 14 points and 6 assists and Senegalese center Mbagne Diop (209-92) added 9 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Cambados. Marin moved-up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams. Cambados at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the ninth position with two games lost. Marin will face Araberri (#11) in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cambados will play at home against Zornotza and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
