Regular Season Round 11: Tochigi Brex - Toyota Alvark 73-77

Date: November 2, 2013
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tochigi. Second ranked Toyota Alvark faced 3rd placed Tochigi Brex. Guests from Tokyo (8-3) defeated host Tochigi Brex (5-6) 77-73. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-15. But Tochigi Brex won second period 22-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Toyota Alvark made 9 blocks. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Philip Ricci (202-80, college: Oregon St.) who scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocks. Forward Jeff Jeffrey (188-80, college: Otterbein) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds. Toyota Alvark's coach Don Beck used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) produced 20 points and 9 rebounds and guard Tommy Brenton (196-89, college: Stony Brook) added 8 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Defending champion maintains second place with 8-3 record behind leader Aishin SH. Tochigi Brex at the other side keeps the third position with six games lost. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tochigi Brex will play again at home against the league's second-placed Toyota Alvark and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
