Regular Season Round 9: Shiga L-Stars - Osaka Evessa 94-91

There was a change at the BJ League leadership position after last games. Round 9 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Osaka Evessa (6-1). They were edged by fourth ranked Shiga L-Stars (5-2) 94-91 on Saturday night. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Osaka Evessa. Osaka Evessa trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 33-21 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 91-94 at the end of the game. Shiga L-Stars shot 31 for 44 from the free-throw line, while Osaka Evessa only scored twelve points from the stripe. 28 personal fouls committed by Osaka Evessa helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Panamanian forward Dionisio Gomez Camargo (203-80, college: Arkansas) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 14 rebounds for the winners and American forward Marshall Brown (199-85, college: Missouri) chipped in 22 points and 12 rebounds. Shiga L-Stars' coach Chris Boettcher used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American point guard Kevin Galloway (200-88, college: Texas Southern) with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import power forward Zachary Andrews (203-85, college: Bradley) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds. Four Shiga L-Stars and five Osaka Evessa players scored in double figures. Shiga L-Stars moved-up to third place, which they share with Kyoto Hannar. Osaka Evessa at the other side dropped to the second position with one game lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Akita NH. Osaka Evessa will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Shiga L-Stars will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked Osaka Evessa at home.
