Regular Season Round 8: Artego Bydg. - Basket ROW 84-73

Everything could happen in Bydgoszcz at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Artego Bydg. and 6th ranked Basket ROW had identical 4-3 record. This time Artego Bydg. used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Rybnik 84-73. The game was mostly controlled by Artego Bydg.. Basket ROW was better in second period 27-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Artego Bydg. won last quarter 19-10. They made 20-of-24 charity shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Artego Bydg. forced 21 Basket ROW turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Leah Metcalf (170-83, college: N.Carolina) who scored 35 points (!!!), 7 assists and 6 steals. The other American import center Jessica Lawson (191-86, college: S.Florida) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 13 rebounds. American guard Rebecca Harris (176-86, college: Illinois) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Agnieszka Kulaga (170-86, college: Valparaiso) added 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for the guests. Four Basket ROW players scored in double figures. Artego Bydg. (5-3) moved-up to fourth place. Basket ROW at the other side dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. Artego Bydg.'s next round opponent will be higher ranked Energa Torun (#3) on the road and it may be the game of the week. Basket ROW will play against Riviera Gdynia and hope to win that game.
