Regular Season Round 9: Shinshu BW - Tokyo Cinq R. 90-79

Rather predictable result in Nagano where seventh ranked Shinshu BW (4-3) defeated 10th ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (1-6) 90-79 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Shinshu BW. Tokyo Cinq R. was better in third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. Shinshu BW forced 20 Tokyo Cinq R. turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Power forward Xavier Gibson (210-88, college: Florida St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners and forward Patrick Sanders (198-85, college: Cal-Irvine) chipped in 18 points. Shinshu BW's coach Ryuji Kawai used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was swingman Ricky Woods (194-84, college: SE Louisiana) with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and power forward Edward Morris (205-84, college: Pittsburg St.) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Four Tokyo Cinq R. players scored in double figures. Shinshu BW moved-up to sixth place. Tokyo Cinq R. lost their sixth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with six games lost. Shinshu BW will face again Tokyo Cinq R. (#10) at home in the next round.
