Regular Season Round 5: GTK Gdynia - Korsarz Gdansk 136-66

There was no surprise when bottom-ranked Korsarz Gdansk (0-4) was crushed on the road by sixth ranked GTK Gdynia (3-2) 136-66 on Saturday. The game without a history. GTK Gdynia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Korsarz Gdansk's 46. GTK Gdynia forced 45 Korsarz Gdansk turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Korsarz Gdansk's players. The best player for the winners was guard Jakub Kietlinski (185-89) who scored 27 points, 9 assists and 6 steals (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field). Guard Karol Wilkusz (197-93) chipped in 29 points and 6 steals. Four GTK Gdynia players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. GTK Gdynia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fourth place in Group A, which they share with Kalisz. Loser Korsarz Gdansk still closes the standings with four games lost. GTK Gdynia will face league's second-placed Legia in Warszawa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Korsarz Gdansk will play on the road against Trefl II Sopot (#10) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
