BJ League top team - Akita Happinets (9-0) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked Saitama Broncos (2-7) 85-78. Saitama Broncos were ahead by 2 points at the halftime before a 44-35 second half run of Akita Happinets. It was a good game for American center Chas McFarland (213-86, college: Wake Forest) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 13 rebounds. The former international point guard Yuki Togashi (170-93) contributed with 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. American swingman Michael Joiner (200-81, college: Florida St.) answered with 26 points and 6 rebounds (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) and the other American import swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 26 points in the effort for Saitama Broncos. The victory was the ninth consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They maintain first place with 9-0 record. Saitama Broncos lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with seven games lost. Akita Happinets will have a break next round. Saitama Broncos will play again at home against the league's leader Akita Happinets (#1) and hope to win that game.
