Regular Season Round 11: Tsukuba R. - Aishin SH 78-98

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Tsukuba. Leader Aishin Sea Horses faced 4th placed Tsukuba R.. Guests from Kariya (11-0) smashed host Tsukuba R. (3-8) 98-78. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 52-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Aishin Sea Horses dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Tsukuba R.'s 46. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Aishin Sea Horses made 9 blocks. It was a great evening for international swingman Kosuke Kanamaru (193-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points and 5 rebounds. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) helped adding 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks. American power forward Lamar Sanders (198-84, college: Lamar) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and swingman Daichi Tanaka (183-89) scored 15 points. Four Tsukuba R. players scored in double figures. Aishin Sea Horses have an impressive series of eleven victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-0 record. Tsukuba R. lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Hitachi SR. Aishin Sea Horses will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tsukuba R. will play again against the league's leader Aishin Sea Horses (#1) and hope to secure a win.
