Regular Season Round 9: Aomori Watts - Gunma 73-71

There was no surprise when 11th ranked Gunma (1-7) was edged on the road by fourth ranked Aomori Watts (6-4) 73-71 on Saturday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gunma trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 26-16 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 71-73 at the end of the game. Guyanese-American forward Gordon Klaiber (206-83, college: Fair Dickinson) stepped up and scored 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and Nigerian forward Abdullahi Kuso (206-84, college: Tallahassee CC) chipped in 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was Canadian forward Marvell Waithe (205-87, college: Arkansas) with 20 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian power forward Darko Cohadarevic (206-86, college: Texas Tech, agency: FCM) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. Gunma's coach Ryan Blackwell tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Aomori Watts. They moved-up to third place. Gunma lost their seventh game in a row. They dropped to the ninth position with seven games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
