Regular Season Round 6: Oostende - Kangoeroes 102-64
Date: November 2, 2013
Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Kangoeroes (0-6) were rolled over on the road by seventh ranked Base Oostende (3-2) 102-64 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Base Oostende. Kangoeroes was better in third quarter 24-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Base Oostende dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Kangoeroes' 28 and had 28 for 38 from the free-throw line, while Kangoeroes only scored twelve points from the stripe. Base Oostende forced 19 Kangoeroes turnovers. Kangoeroes were plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Ryan Thompson (198-89, college: Rider) scored 19 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international forward Pierre-Antoine Gillet (201-91) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Toarlyn Fitzpatrick (203-89, college: S.Florida) with 16 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Luke Loucks (195-90, college: Florida St.) scored 11 points and 4 assists. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with M.Hainaut. Newly promoted Kangoeroes still closes the standings with six games lost. Base Oostende will face VOO Verviers-Pepinster (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Kangoeroes will play against Liege Basket and hope to get finally their first victory.
