Regular Season Round 5: GKS Tychy - Cieszyn 91-72

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Cieszyn (1-4) was crushed on the road by leader GKS Tychy (5-0) 91-72 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by GKS Tychy. Cieszyn was better in fourth quarter 33-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Cieszyn to just 5 points in second quarter. GKS Tychy dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Cieszyn's 38. GKS Tychy forced 27 Cieszyn turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was power forward Tomasz Bzdyra (200-83) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Pawel Olczak (196-81) chipped in 19 points. GKS Tychy's coach Tomasz Jagielka used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Przemyslaw Raczka (184-90) produced 29 points and center Tomasz Czajkowski (204-82) added 17 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for GKS Tychy. They maintain first place in Group B with 5-0 record, which they share with GTK Gliwice. Cieszyn lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team dropped to the eighth position with four games lost. GKS Tychy will face AZS Pol.Cz-wa (#9) in Czestochowa in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Cieszyn will play at home against Mickiewicz and hope to win that game.
