Rather expected game in Mikawa where 8th ranked Takamatsu FA (2-5) was defeated by fifth ranked Hamamatsu Phoenix (5-4) 81-63 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Hamamatsu Phoenix. Takamatsu FA was better in third quarter 24-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Takamatsu FA to just 6 points in first quarter. Americans were the main players on the court. Guard Aki Chambers (190-90, college: Cal Merced) stepped up and scored 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and forward Ray Nixon (203-84, college: Wisconsin) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Hamamatsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds and forward Andrais Thornton (203-85, college: NW Missouri St.) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Hamamatsu Phoenix maintains fifth place with 5-4 record, which they share with Niigata Albirex. Loser Takamatsu FA keeps the eighth position with five games lost. Hamamatsu Phoenix will face again Takamatsu FA (#8) at home in the next round.
