There was no surprise when 14th ranked Montbrison (1-6) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Sorgues BC (4-3) 76-72 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 25-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Sorgues BC dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Montbrison's 30. American forward Aaron Broussard (195-90, college: Seattle) fired 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American-British power forward Tafari Toney (203-86) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Four Sorgues BC players scored in double figures. Forward Regis Aubry (199-82) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and guard Benjamin Tillon (189-85) added 16 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Montbrison's coach Marc Berjoan rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sorgues BC moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Rueil and Charleville. Newly promoted Montbrison keeps the fourteenth position with six games lost. Sorgues BC will face UB Chartres (#12) on the road in the next round. Montbrison will play against the league's second-placed Saint Chamond having rather not much hope for a victory.
