Regular Season Round 2: TWU - Lethbridge 65-76

Date: November 2, 2013
There was a small surprise when Lethbridge (1-1) defeated Trinity Western (1-1) in Langley 76-65 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 41-27 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Lethbridge made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. Lethbridge outrebounded Trinity Western 37-22 including a 28-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Kimberley Veldman (188) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 16 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Guard Katlyn Olsen (168) contributed with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Lethbridge players scored in double figures. Forward Holly Strom (180) replied with 20 points and 7 rebounds and Laurissa Weigl added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Trinity Western. Trinity Western's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Lethbridge will face Manitoba in Winnipeg in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Trinity Western will play on the road against UBC in Vancouver and hope to win that game.
