Regular Season Round 2: Laurier - Laurentian 75-54

Laurier used a home court advantage and outplayed the opponent from Greater Sudbury 75-54 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-54. Laurier dominated on the defensive end, holding Laurentian to just 6 points in second quarter. Guard Sarah Dillon orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 4 assists. Guard Samantha Jacobs (178) contributed with 11 points for the winners. Forward Adrienne Moreau (175) replied with 6 points and 9 rebounds and guard Erin Simpson (170) added 10 points in the effort for Laurentian. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Laurier will face Toronto (#8) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Laurentian will play against McMaster (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
