Regular Season Round 2: Waterloo - Algoma 61-40

Waterloo used a home court advantage and smashed the opponent from Sault Ste. Marie, ON 61-40 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Waterloo. Thunderbirds was better in second period 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Thunderbirds to just 5 points in first and third quarters. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Waterloo made 7 blocks. Guard Marti Killeen (180) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Ally Vonk (185) contributed with 7 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Guard Courtney White (178) replied with 5 points and 7 rebounds and Laura Meadows (178) added 8 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Thunderbirds. Thunderbirds' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Waterloo will face Ryerson (#7) in Toronto in the next round where they are favorite. Thunderbirds will play at home against Brock and hope to win that game.
