Regular Season Round 2: H.R. Le-Zion - Maccabi Ashdod 59-81

Another exciting game was between Maccabi Ashdod and Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion where Maccabi Ashdod (1-1) crushed Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion (0-2) on the road with 22-point difference 81-59. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion was better in second period 21-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Ashdod dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion's 28. Maccabi Ashdod forced 19 Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion turnovers and outrebounded them 43-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. Maccabi Ashdod players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion's players. American power forward Danielle Adams (185-89, college: Texas A&M) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. International forward Ekaterina Abramzon (185-87) contributed with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod's coach Eliyahu Rabi felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Sugar Rodgers (180-89, college: Georgetown) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and her fellow American import forward Kristina Santiago (185-89, college: Cal Poly - SLO, agency: LBM Management) added 15 points in the effort for Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Hap.Petah Tikva (#9) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Hapoel Rishon Le-Zion will play against Maccabi Ramat Hen to get more than just one victory in their record.
