Regular Season Round 5: Stjarnan - Haukar 94-79

There was a minor upset when 5th ranked Haukar (3-2) lost on the road to seventh ranked Stjarnan (2-2) 94-79 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 31-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Stjarnan looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Stjarnan made 8 blocks. International point guard Justin Shouse (181-81, college: Mercyhurst) orchestrated the victory by scoring 27 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Marvin Valdimarsson (198-81) contributed with 32 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Stjarnan's coach Teitur Orlygsson used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American forward Terrence Watson (200-87, college: Ball St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 18 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Emil Barja (192-91) added 7 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists in the effort for Haukar. Stjarnan maintains seventh place with 2-2 record. Newly promoted Haukar dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. Stjarnan will face higher ranked Grindavik (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Haukar will play against KFI and hope to win that game.
