There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Lechugueros (5-7) won against much higher ranked Halcones Rojos (8-3) in Leon 71-65 on Thursday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after three quarters before their 21-13 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Lechugueros outrebounded Halcones Rojos 58-34 including a 22-7 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a very good performance for American swingman Deilvez Yearby (198-87, college: IPFW) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 15 rebounds and 6 assists. Senegalese center Babacar Camara (211-81, college: CS Fullerton) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. Four Lechugueros players scored in double figures. Spanish-Dominican forward Edward Santana (203-80) answered with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 13 rebounds and international guard Francisco Cruz (190-89, college: Wyoming) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for Halcones Rojos. Halcones Rojos' coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Lechugueros moved-up to ninth place. Loser Halcones Rojos dropped to the third position with three games lost. Lechugueros will face Halcones UV Xalapa (#10) at home in the next round. Halcones Rojos will play against Panteras (#6) in Aguascalientes and hope to win that game.
