The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Okapi Aalstar as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Antwerp Giants) loss. Okapi Aalstar smashed 8th ranked Basic-Fit Brussels at home 114-92. The game was mostly controlled by Okapi Aalstar. Basic-Fit Brussels was better in third quarter 34-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Okapi Aalstar shot 61.8 percent from the field and made 16-of-17 charity shots (94.1 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 14 long-distance shots on high 56.0 percentage. Okapi Aalstar players were unselfish on offense dishing 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Basic-Fit Brussels' players. Worth to mention a great performance of Samoan-American power forward John Tofi (203-84, college: UTEP) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Da'Sean Butler (201-88, college: W.Virginia, agency: KMG Sports Management) contributed with 24 points for the winners. American forward Brandon Ubel (208-91, college: Nebraska) answered with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 11 rebounds and the former international center Aleksander Lichodzijewski (202-84) added 19 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Basic-Fit Brussels. Four Okapi Aalstar and five Basic-Fit Brussels players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Antwerp and Spirou. Basic-Fit Brussels lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with Verviers-Pep.. Basic-Fit Brussels will play next round against Leuven Bears trying to get back on the winning streak. Okapi Aalstar will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Base Oostende on the road.
