Regular Season Round 8: Montbrison - St Chamond 76-74

The most exciting game of round 8 in the NM1 took place in Montbrison. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-ranked Saint Chamond (6-2) to fifteenth ranked Montbrison (2-6) 76-74 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Saint Chamond. The hosts trailed by 6 points after three quarters before their 19-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Forward Regis Aubry (199-82) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. British guard Duke-Jermaine Forbes (186-80, college: W.Georgia) contributed with 22 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. Forbes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Jean-Stephane Rinna (205-83) replied with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 17 rebounds and 4 assists and Cuban power forward Grismay Paumier (203-88) added 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) in the effort for Saint Chamond. Four Saint Chamond players scored in double figures. Montbrison moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Cognac. Saint Chamond at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Vichy. Montbrison is looking forward to face higher ranked ADA Blois (#6) on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Saint Chamond will play against UB Chartres (#10) and is hoping to win this game.
