Regular Season Round 9: Basket ROW - Riviera Gdynia 67-52

Date: November 9, 2013
Rather expected game in Rybnik where 9th ranked Riviera Gdynia (1-8) was defeated by sixth ranked Basket ROW (5-4) 67-52. The game was mostly controlled by Basket ROW. Riviera Gdynia was better in fourth quarter 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Basket ROW made 21-of-25 charity shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Basket ROW had a 31-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. 26 personal fouls committed by Riviera Gdynia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for Serbian center Jelena Velinovic (193-81, agency: Promotex) who led her team to a victory with 20 points and 9 rebounds. American forward Markel Walker (185-90, college: UCLA, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Basket ROW's coach Kazimierz Mikolajec allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Power forward Malgorzata Misiuk (184-91) answered with 23 points and 7 rebounds and American center Danielle Wilson (190-88, college: Dowling, agency: Merit Management Group) added 7 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Riviera Gdynia. Basket ROW moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Wilki Morskie. Riviera Gdynia lost their fifth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with eight games lost. Basket ROW's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked MKS Konin (#10) at home which should be theoretically an easy game. Riviera Gdynia will play against Energa Torun and hope to win that game.
