Regular Season Round 6: Cambados - Zornotza 69-66

A very interesting game took place in Cambados. It ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Zornotza (3-3) to ninth ranked Cambados (3-2) 69-66 in the fight for the fifth place. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Zornotza. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-12. But Zornotza won second period 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cambados forced 22 Zornotza turnovers. It was a good game for center Alberto Rodriguez (206-75) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Argentinian guard Juan Martin Orellano (190-89) contributed with 10 points and 4 steals for the winners. Four Cambados players scored in double figures. Cambados' coach Yago Casal allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Forward Ibon Carreto (198-84) replied with 25 points and 6 rebounds and guard David Quero (181-84) added 12 points and 4 assists in the effort for Zornotza. Cambados moved-up to fifth place. Zornotza at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Cambados' next round opponent will be higher ranked Fuenlabrada (#3) in Madrid and it may be quite challenging game. Zornotza will play at home against Araberri and hope to win that game.
