Regular Season Round 14: Panteras - Halc.Rojos 90-92

The most exciting game of round 14 in the LNBP took place in Aguascalientes. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 6th ranked Panteras (6-7) to third ranked Halcones Rojos (9-3) 92-90 on Saturday evening. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 45-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Halcones Rojos made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Panteras turnovers. It was a great shooting night for Halcones Rojos especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. 25 personal fouls committed by Panteras helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Puerto Rican point guard Filiberto Rivera (190-82, college: UTEP) scored 29 points to lead the charge for the winners and Spanish-Dominican forward Edward Santana (203-80) chipped in 21 points and 4 assists during the contest. Puerto Rican swingman Alejandro Carmona (194-83) responded with 23 points and Puerto Rican point guard Ricardo Melendez (179-83) scored 21 points and 4 steals. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Halcones Rojos maintains third position with 9-3 record behind leader Abejas, which they share with Pioneros. Panteras at the other side keep the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Lechugueros. Halcones Rojos is looking forward to face Toros (#5) in Nuevo Laredo in the next round. Panteras will play at home against Angeles and are hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
