Regular Season Round 6: Oviedo - Planasa NV 99-70

Bottom-ranked Planasa NV (0-6) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 99-70 loss to eighth ranked Oviedo CB (4-2) in Oviedo. It looked good early as Planasa NV took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Oviedo CB had a 28-14 second period charge getting the lead and Planasa NV was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 70-99. Oviedo CB dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Planasa NV's 30. Oviedo CB forced 21 Planasa NV turnovers. Oviedo CB players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Swingman Victor Perez (196-82) notched 22 points to lead the effort and American forward Daniel Fitzgerald (206-84, college: Marquette) supported him with 22 points and 5 rebounds. Fitzgerald is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Oviedo CB players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds by center David Mesa (202-80) did not help to save the game for Planasa NV. point guard Enrique Suarez (185-83) added 16 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Oviedo CB moved-up to third place, which they share with 4 other teams. Planasa NV at the other side still closes the standings with six games lost. Oviedo CB's next round opponent will be FCB Regal II (#13) in Barcelona and are hoping to win another game. Planasa NV will play at home against Cocinas.com and hopes to get finally their first victory.
