Zamarat's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after four consecutive loses. The victory is especially important as they defeated much higher ranked Jopisa Burgos (2-3) 70-64. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-11. But Jopisa Burgos won second period 17-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Jopisa Burgos used huge pressure winning it 13-12 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 9-15. Zamarat forced 19 Jopisa Burgos turnovers. Jopisa Burgos was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Slovenian center Sandra Pirsic (197-84) stepped up and scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners and guard Maria Ylenia Manzanares (175-83) chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Berta Chumillas (173-90) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds and American forward Adaora Elonu (185-90, college: Texas A&M) scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Zamarat (1-4) left bottom position moving up to eleventh place, which they share with Ibaizabal. Jopisa Burgos at the other side dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. They share it with 5 other teams. Zamarat will play against higher ranked Pais Vasco (#10) in San Sebastian in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Jopisa Burgos will play at home against Socinsa Bembibre (#4) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
