Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Grodno: Olimpia GrGAU (#2) and Victoria (#7). Olimpia GrGAU (5-1) crushed visiting Victoria (0-6) by 60 points 88-28. The game without a history. Olimpia GrGAU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Victoria to just 3 points in fourth quarter and to 11 points in first half. Olimpia GrGAU held Victoria to an opponent 19.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.7 percent accuracy of the winners. Olimpia GrGAU forced 35 Victoria turnovers and outrebounded them 51-37 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Ukrainian-Russian guard Tatiana Shapochkina (179-85) who scored 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals. The former international Maryia Filonchyk (187-92) chipped in 7 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. Tatsiana Khadzko (175-96) produced 12 points and guard Veronika Ruksha (170-97) added 4 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the guests. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Olimpia GrGAU. Defending champion maintains second place with 5-1 record behind leader Gorizont. Victoria lost their sixth game in a row. They still closes the standings with six games lost. Olimpia GrGAU will have a break next round. Victoria will play on the road against Sozh Gomel (#4) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
