Regular Season Round 5: Dunkerque - SIG 61-73

Date: November 9, 2013
Another exciting game was between eighth ranked SIG and 6th ranked Dunkerque where SIG (3-2) beat Dunkerque (2-3) on the road 73-61. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dunkerque. It looked good early as Dunkerque took an 11-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then SIG took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 12 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dunkerque to just 4 points in second quarter. SIG forced 20 Dunkerque turnovers. Center Celine Schmitt-Sender (185-80) orchestrated the victory by scoring 22 points. Forward Aline Fischbach (178-89) contributed with 14 points for the winners. Four SIG players scored in double figures. Dace Pierre-joseph answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and point guard Aurelie Durand (170-88) added 15 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Dunkerque. SIG moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Pays d'Aix. Dunkerque at the other side dropped to the seventh position with three games lost. They share it with Le Havre and Reims. SIG will play against LTB 29 (#10) in Pleyber-Christ in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Dunkerque will play on the road against Charnay in Charnay-les-Macon and hopes to get back on the winning track.
