Rather predictable result in Cancun where fourth ranked Pioneros (9-3) defeated 7th ranked Huracanes (5-5) 90-79 on Saturday. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Pioneros outrebounded Huracanes 43-28 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Panamanian power forward Jose Lloreda (203-80, college: LSU, agency: Paris Global Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Robert Hornsby (201-82, college: Troy) chipped in 21 points and 7 rebounds. Pioneros' coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American forward Ken Horton (199-89, college: Cent.Conn.St.) produced a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds and international point guard Omar Quintero (183-81, college: S.Nazarene) added 17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals respectively for the guests. Five Huracanes players scored in double figures. Pioneros moved-up to third place, which they share with Halc.Rojos. Loser Huracanes dropped to the eighth position with five games lost.
