Regular Season Round 6: Hapoel Eilat - Maccabi.Ashdod 85-79

Date: November 10, 2013
Very predictable result when fifth ranked Hapoel Eilat (4-2) defeated at home 11th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (1-4) 85-79 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maccabi Ashdod won third quarter 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Hapoel Eilat dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi Ashdod's 38. Strangely Maccabi Ashdod outrebounded Hapoel Eilat 39-26 including a 17-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American Terrence Roderick (196-88, college: UAB, agency: Interperformances) who scored 20 points and 7 assists. International Nitzan Hanochi (194-86) chipped in 16 points and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Five Hapoel Eilat players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American Marcus Dove (206-85, college: Oklahoma St.) who recorded 24 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Ryan Pearson (198-90, college: George Mason) added 19 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. Maccabi Ashdod's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Hapoel Eilat moved-up to third place. Maccabi Ashdod lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with four games lost. Hapoel Eilat will meet Bnei Hasharon (#6) in the next round. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Maccabi Rishon (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
