Regular Season Round 5: Asseco - Kotwica 81-87

Date: November 10, 2013
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when ninth ranked Kotwica (2-3) beat 8th ranked Asseco (2-3) in Gdynia 87-81. The guests were already 12 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 23-17 Asseco's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 87-81 at the end of the game. Kotwica made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Kotwica especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was American point guard Jordan Callahan (184-90, college: Tulane) who scored 16 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import Karron Johnson (201-88, college: Midland CC) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. The former international forward Piotr Szczotka (196-81, agency: Alti Sport) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and American point guard A.J. Walton (184-90, college: Baylor) added 18 points and 9 assists respectively for the hosts. Four Kotwica and five Asseco players scored in double figures. Asseco's coach David Dedek rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Kotwica moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Asseco. Kotwica's next round opponent will be higher ranked PGE Turow (#3) in Zgorzelec and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
