Regular Season Round 6: Maccabi T-A - Bnei Hertzeliyya 78-75

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Bnei Hasharon (3-3) against ninth ranked Maccabi T-A (3-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Bnei Hasharon was edged by Maccabi T-A in a tough game in Tel-Aviv 75-78. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 36-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American-Montenegrin point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll., agency: Priority Sports) who scored 21 points and 4 assists. American center Shawn James (208-83, college: Northeastern) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was Nigerian-American point guard Michael Umeh (188-84, college: UNLV, agency: Two Points) who recorded 18 points and point guard Avi Ben-Chimol (194-85, agency: Z.A.G. - Law Offices) added 11 points and 8 assists respectively. Five Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Maccabi T-A moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hapoel Holon. Loser Bnei Hasharon dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Hapoel J-M. Maccabi T-A's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tel-Aviv to the arena Hapoel Tel-Aviv.
