Regular Season Round 5: Udine - Alghero 56-50

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Alghero (0-5) was defeated on the road by third ranked Udine (3-1) 56-50 on Sunday. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Alghero was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 11-point lead after three quarters before a 23-6 charge of Udine, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Alghero to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Udine shot 24 for 32 from the free-throw line, while Alghero only scored four points from the stripe. The best player for the winners was forward Patrizia De Gianni (191-88) who scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Sara De Biase (180-88) chipped in 12 points. Guard Marika Zanardi (175-81) produced 16 points and center Costanza Giorgi (185-89) added 13 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) respectively for the guests. Udine have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to second place in North-East, which they share with Vicenza. Loser Alghero still closes the standings with five games lost. Udine will face league's leader Triestina on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
