Regular Season Round 5: Hapoel Afula - Ramat Hasharon 87-83
Date: November 12, 2013
An interesting game for Hapoel Afula (4-1) which hosted in Afula second-ranked Ramat Hasharon (3-2). Third ranked Hapoel Afula managed to get a 4-point victory 87-83. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ramat Hasharon. It was a key game for the second position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Ramat Hasharon won fourth quarter 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Eric Devendorf (193-87, college: Syracuse) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points and 5 rebounds. His fellow American import power forward Jeff Allen (201-87, college: Virginia Tech) contributed with 9 points and 19 rebounds for the winners. American guard Joshua Alexander (195-87, college: SF Austin) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and naturalized French point guard Jonathan Shtarkman (188-91, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 22 points in the effort for Ramat Hasharon. Four Ramat Hasharon players scored in double figures. Hapoel Afula moved-up to second place, which they share with Hapoel Kazrin. Newly promoted Ramat Hasharon dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Hapoel Afula is looking forward to face Elitzur Ramla (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ramat Hasharon will play against Hapoel Kazrin (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
