Regular Season Round 5: Hapoel K/S - Elitzur Ramla 82-104

There was a surprise result when tenth ranked Elitzur Ramla (2-3) rolled over on the road higher ranked Hapoel Kfar Saba (2-3) 104-82. It looked good early as Hapoel Kfar Saba took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Elitzur Ramla had a 28-19 second period charge getting the lead and Hapoel Kfar Saba was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 82-104. Elitzur Ramla shot 63.9 percent from the field. They outrebounded Hapoel Kfar Saba 48-25 including a 38-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Elitzur Ramla players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Hapoel Kfar Saba helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American guard Roburt Sallie (196-86, college: Memphis, agency: Blacktop Management) who scored 28 points and 6 rebounds. The former international swingman Or Eytan (198-81, agency: Avi Zilberman) chipped in 22 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and point guard Omer Cohen (181-93) added 10 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Hapoel Kfar Saba's coach gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Elitzur Ramla moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Hapoel Kfar Saba. Elitzur Ramla's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Hapoel Afula at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
