Regular Season Round 4: Al Gharafa - Al Ahli 86-72

Another interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Gharafa (#5) and Al Ahli (#8). Al Gharafa (6-3) won against visiting Al Ahli (1-8) 86-72. American guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty, agency: Norton Sports Management) fired 27 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners. Nigerian forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. Al Gharafa's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American-Nigerian power forward Alvin Mofunanya (203-87, college: Fair Dickinson) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 18 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and Venezuelan point guard Calvin Cage (183-84, college: Buffalo, agency: Prossin Sports Management Inc.) added 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Al Gharafa moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Arabi. Al Ahli lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Al Shamal and Qatar. Al Gharafa's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Shamal.
