Regular Season Round 11: Handlova - Iskra Svit 68-73

The most interesting game of round 11 in the Extraliga was a home defeat of 6th ranked Handlova (5-5) to fifth ranked Iskra Svit (6-4) 73-68. The guests trailed by 9 points at the halftime before their 46-32 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Iskra Svit outrebounded Handlova 48-29 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. 24 personal fouls committed by Handlova helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for American center Tyronne McNeal (211-87, college: Lapua) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Lakeem Jackson (196-89, college: S.Carolina) helped adding 6 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. McNeal is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Serbian swingman Nemanja Gudzic (195-90) responded with 13 points and 6 rebounds and international forward Jozef Vojtek (204-85) scored 13 points. Iskra Svit moved-up to fourth place. Handlova at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Iskra Svit are looking forward to face league's leader Inter Bratislava at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Handlova will play against Nova Ves (#9) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
