Regular Season Round 6: IR - Snaefell 77-110

8th ranked IR (2-4) was outscored at home by ninth ranked Snaefell (3-3) with the biggest margin this round 110-77 on Thursday night. The game was mostly controlled by Snaefell. IR was better in third quarter 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Snaefell forced 20 IR turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 69.6 percentage. International forward Jon Olafur Jonsson (199-81) scored 30 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and American point guard Vance Cooksey (183-87, college: Pikeville) chipped in 30 points and 7 assists during the contest. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Snaefell moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Thor Thorl. Loser IR dropped to the ninth position with four games lost. Snaefell will face Valur (#10) in Reykjavik in the next round. IR will play on the road against Stjarnan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
