Regular Season Round 5: Batumi - Sokhumi 68-67

The most exciting game of round 5 in the Superleague took place in Batumi. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of 7th ranked Sokhumi (1-3) to fifth ranked Batumi (3-2) 68-67 on Thursday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Sokhumi won third quarter 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Batumi shot 22 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Sokhumi only scored six points from the stripe. Canadian guard Junior Cadougan (205-90, college: Marquette) stepped up and scored 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American power forward Jamee Jackson (201-91, college: Quinnipiac) chipped in 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. Center Vakhtang Kadaria (205-89, college: Mineral Area CC) responded with 8 points and 17 rebounds and international Nika Metreveli (211-91, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 11 rebounds. Batumi moved-up to fourth place. Sokhumi at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Olimpi. Batumi are looking forward to face Energy Invest (#8) in Rustavi in the next round. Sokhumi's supporters also look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi Maccabi Tbilisi.
