Regular Season Round 6: Haukar - KFI 73-67

Bottom-ranked KFI (0-5) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to fifth ranked Haukar (4-2) 73-67. The hosts were ahead by 3 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 20-13 run, which allowed them to win the game. Haukar dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to KFI's 32. Haukar forced 24 KFI turnovers. They brought some defensive toughness making 10 blocks. It was a good game for American forward Terrence Watson (200-87, college: Ball St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 20 rebounds and 4 blocks. Guard Kari Jonsson (190-97) contributed with 16 points and 4 steals for the winners. American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) replied with 28 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists and the former international forward Mirko Virijevic (201-81, college: Freed-Hardeman) added 18 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for KFI. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Haukar moved-up to third place, which they share with Njardvik and Grindavik. KFI at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Haukar's next round opponent will be Njardvik (#4) in Njardvik. KFI will play at home against Grindavik (#3) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
