Regular Season Round 5: Olimpi - Armia 73-96
Date: November 15, 2013
Another exciting game was again a derby between two local teams from Tbilisi: Armia (#1) and Olimpi (#6). Olimpi was crushed at home by 23 points 73-96 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The game was mostly controlled by Armia. Olimpi managed to win fourth quarter 25-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Olimpi 57-31 including a 23-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Armia looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Zviad Babiashvili (200-78) who scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. point guard Beqa Tsivtsivadze (190-89) chipped in 9 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Armia players scored in double figures. Center Revaz Atanelishvili (207-86, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and point guard Nodar Gogodze (191-94) added 18 points respectively for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Armia (5-0) have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with a perfect record of 5 victories in a row. Loser Olimpi keeps the sixth position with three games lost. They share it with Sokhumi. Armia's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tbilisi .
