Regular Season Round 13: Nantes - Le Portel 77-74

There was a surprise result when thirteenth ranked Nantes (6-7) edged at home 4th placed Le Portel (8-5) 77-74 on Friday. The hosts trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 23-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. American players dominated the game. Quite impressive performance for Allen Durham (198-88, college: Grace Bible) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks. Swingman Wesley Witherspoon (205-90, college: Memphis) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Durham is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Charles Jackson (203-87, college: Hawaii-Pacific, agency: Court Side) answered with 15 points and 9 rebounds and guard Matthew Gibson (193-84) added 15 points and 5 assists in the effort for Le Portel. Four Le Portel players scored in double figures. Nantes moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Le Portel dropped to the third position with five games lost. Nantes will face higher ranked ALM Evreux (#7) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Le Portel will play against JL Bourg (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
