Regular Season Round 8: Tln Kalev - Kalev/Cramo 70-79

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Tallinn: Kalev/Cramo (#4) and Tln Kalev (#5). Tln Kalev was defeated at home 70-79 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Tln Kalev won third quarter 25-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Kalev/Cramo brought some defensive toughness making 9 blocks. Tln Kalev was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Senegalese center Bamba Fall (217-86, college: SMU) orchestrated the victory by scoring 9 points, 11 rebounds and 6 blocks. International guard Rain Veideman (192-91) contributed with 17 points for the winners. American center Kenneth Cooper (208-87, college: UAB) replied with 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and his fellow American import power forward Michael Hart (206-85, college: N.Illinois) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Tln Kalev. Four Tln Kalev players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kalev/Cramo (5-0) have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion (5-0) moved-up to third place. Tln Kalev lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with five games lost. Kalev/Cramo will play against bottom-ranked KK Hito (#9) in Johvi in the next round where they are favorite. Tln Kalev will have a break next round.
