Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fourth ranked Kyoto Hannar. and 5th ranked Osaka Evessa had identical 6-4 record. This time Kyoto Hannar. used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Osaka 70-66 on Saturday night. Osaka Evessa was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 22-15 charge of Kyoto Hannar., which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Osaka Evessa to just 6 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Osaka Evessa 45-33 including 19 on the offensive glass. American center Joe Werner (201-84, college: Wisc.-La Crosse) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Puerto Rican-American swingman Edwin Ubiles (198-86, college: Siena) chipped in 11 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Kyoto Hannar.'s coach Honoo Hamaguchi used entire bench in such tough game. Guard Naoto Takushi (182-81) produced 20 points and American center Dillion Sneed (203-84, college: E.Tenn.St.) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Kyoto Hannar. (7-4) moved-up to third place, which they share with Shinshu BW and Iwate Big Bulls. Osaka Evessa lost their fifth game in a row. They dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Kyoto Hannar. will face again Osaka Evessa (#5) at home in the next round.
